Three Waterside Pubs for After-Hours with Colleagues This Summer

Who would have thought we’d be enjoying such consistent sunny summer weather here in Suffolk

Even before most children in the county break up for the school holidays, we’ve been basking in some incredible temperatures.

What that’s meant, of course, is that those of us busy working in offices throughout the day, have been pretty keen to enjoy a cooling drink straight from work.

With that in mind, we asked around the park to get our tenants’ selection of the best pubs, specifically with waterside locations, to head to after work this summer.

You’ll have to let us know if you agree!

1

The Maybush, At Waldringfield

A short drive from Riduna, and overlooking the river Deben, is the hugely popular Maybush.

It’s part of the Deben Inns collection of pub/restaurants here in Suffolk, and is not only a firm favourite with sailing fanatics (it’s a hop, skip and a jump from the sailing club dinghy park), but it’s always a really popular choice with families and visiting tourists.

The food selection is great, with lots of emphasis on fish dishes, sharing options, or even the simplest of sandwiches and baguettes.

There’s a car park for ease, and plenty of picnic tables to choose from.

Our tenants say they also find it to be great for customer service, and a good choice with children because the garden area is largely ‘fenced’ and feels secure.

2

Ramsholt Arms

This superbly located waterside choice is perhaps less known to those who come from outside the region, but it’s popular on Riduna Park with those seeking a post-work drink or meal out with friends by the river.

It’s absolutely slap-bang on the shore of the River Deben, and can feel like a bit of a ‘middle of nowhere’ route to get there, the first time you drive by car.

We think it’s a great place for watching the sun go down, while enjoying foodie treats like deep-fried whitebait, slow cooked beef stew, traditional fish and chips, or an open fish pie, bursting with crayfish and salmon.

That’s our tastebuds truly tantalised already.

3

Ferry Boat Inn, Felixstowe

This next one steps the waterside option up a gear.

We’re talking less river, more sea.

If you fancy heading out for a true breath of sea air after your crazy working day, then Felixstowe features among our tenants’ preferred list.

Several business owners said they’re a fan of the Ferry Boat, for its delicious seafood dishes and its incredibly warm and friendly welcome.

You’ll find the Ferry Boat very close to the sailing club, so throughout the summer you might even catch a fair degree of racing taking place on weekday evenings.

The food here is, as you’d expect, a great nod to our coastal ‘catch’, and you can expect dishes like line-caught cod, seafood salad or salmon fishcakes.

If you’re not so keen on fish though, you can just as happily get stuck into veggie curry, or babyrack ribs.

There’s a superb beer garden, and there’s a great choice of cask ales.
